This shit is hilarious. Loving the budget green screen. Action is the man of 2011 no doubt...
Track is off Meyhem Lauren's album 'Self Induced Illness'.
Up and coming group Kings of the City release their first official single and video for the tune 'Darkness' featuring the legendary Klashnekoff. Creating a unique sound from a mix of grime, indie rock and hip hop the London group have successfully accomplished the crossover genre so many have tried and failed at. 2011 is obviously set to be a big year for the band. The single is available for free download from their bandcamp.

Those looking for more hip hop from Bitter Instinct need not worry. Here we have a free download from the mighty Taskforce. Recorded in September 2009 over a dope J-zone beat, this is supposedly the last thing Farma G and Chester have recorded together. No need to fret though as there is news of MFTC 5 dropping this year.
For more current hip hop please don't forget the check the constantly updated 'Top 10 Tracks' on the top left of the page.
Jamie Grind brings more of that vocal garage sound we like along with a nice dose of juke/footwork style beats thrown in for good measure. At first listen it may not seem all that, but trust us this ones a grower. Plus the artwork is pretty mental.
Snippets below.
Ancient Future is the new debut album by Cyrus Malachi, one arm of the
mighty Triple Darkness crew that filled the void left by the now defunct
Terra Firma. For those who don't know, Cyrus and his crew are the
crowned heirs to Wu-Tang proteges Sunz of Man. In similar deft fashion
they take on the subjects of trife life city livin', nefarious street
activity, and a society mercilessly under The Man's boot.
Production
is kept in the capable hands of Beat Butcha, Jon phonics and Chemo
amongst others. Relatively unknown and notable newcomer Anatomy has
crafted one of the illest beats on the album; 'Black Maria' which tells
the harrowing story of Cyrus' incarceration. M9, Kyza and Iron Braydz
are all welcome guests but one can’t help feeling that help from across
the pond could've been chosen with more diligence; Cyrus would find
natural and more skilled allies in Hell Razah, Roc Marc and Milano than
with what’s currently on offer.
Cyrus' words have never been
more apt or prophetic than on 'Brave New World', describing a dystopian
world at war with itself. Worthy contrast comes on 'Duality', a beam of
romantic optimism that cuts through the more hellish depictions on the
album. Other highlights include 'Animal Circus' - a detailed and tragic
account of the evolution of the hip hop scene as well as 'Kemetic Love' a
portrayal of family hardship and struggle.
Ancient Future is a
welcome debut from a rapper serious about his lyrics and aware of his
audience. The album is a solid set with moments of excellence that
justify anticipation for it's release. Cyrus Malachi and Triple
darkness have reaffirmed themselves as ones to watch carefully in 2011.
Ancient Future is out in April via No Cure records.

This is the official music video to the Pace Won and Mr. Green song "Can You Hear Me? (A Tribute to the People
of Tunisia)."
Following the recent unrest in Tunisia and Egypt it was only a matter of time before the hip hop world made their thoughts known. This video gives a heartfelt and powerful insight into the plight of the Tunisian protester. THIS IS REAL MUSIC.
Eric Lau's forthcoming instrumental LP 'Quadrivium' drops on the 25th February and judging by the below snippets, it is sounding excellent. Following on from his previous project 'Makin Sound', his perfect style of jazzy hip hop and soulful beats are exactly what we like to hear when it comes to instrumental music. Check the snippets and promo vid below.
Following on from the success of Onra and Dam-Funk it is now the UK's turn to show their hand regarding the 80's funk and boogie scene. This comes in the form of London duo Chesca and Elliott Yorke's production group Royalty with their self titled EP. Think analogue synth-based boogie funk with a new beat twist. This is
out on the 24th February on indie label Five Easy Pieces.
Regular features at Bitter Instinct Jessie Ware and Sampha recently took over the Boiler Room to perform their single 'Valentine'. The SBTRKT collaborators are definite ones to watch in terms of future British vocal talent. Check their performances below including a cover of 'What you won't do for love'.
Whilst trawling through the crapfest of music the internet contains today, this caught my attention. On the 9th February Gilles Peterson show James Blake guested and this song was played. Not much information was given besides the track and artist name. The blogoshere has now erupted with speculations about who this Ifan Dafydd person is with ideas that he is another of Blake's aliases or just some Welsh man who is good at making music in a similar style to James Blake.
Anyway, here's the track entitled 'No Good', featuring a sample of Amy Winehouse's 'You know im no good' (hence the above image, incase you were wondering).
I'm sure we'll be hearing more of this guy very soon. Stay tuned.
BONUS: Peverelist - Roll With The Punches (Harmonimix)
This tune has been around for at least 5 years now but hardly anyone has heard it, which is a damn shame. In my opinion this remix of Cassius and GFK's track 'Thrilla' is some of Mike Skinners best work. The mix of French house, UK garage and NY rap would never normally work however Skinner managed to get it just right. This track needs to be heard and was very much ahead of it's time which is probably why it so hard to find.

New track from 2 favourites at Bitter Instinct. This bangs. Sampha's soulful, unique voice flows so perfectly over the bouncy garage beat by SBTRKT. Set for release 11th April on Young Turks.
